A Big Response to a Responsible Topic
Corporate. Responsibility. Two of the sexiest words imaginable, right? Well, maybe not to most people, but sometimes that kind of story needs to be told and we don’t think that’s an excuse to let it be a snoozefest. As a matter of fact, we recently proved it.
In 2019 one of the world’s most well known household brands asked us to create a corporate responsibility video that would be informative, engaging and fun. (Yes, fun.) That video eventually turned into an AAF Addys Best In Show award winner.
So how did we do it?
Stop Motion
To capture the more traditional stop-motion aspects of this video, we used software called Dragonframe — a tool used by major motion picture effects studios. By setting up different colored seamless backgrounds in our content studio, we were able to capture this footage quickly, efficiently and just a few feet away from our desks.
3D Animation
Certain products our client offers are organic and irregular in shape. To capture their geometries and textures we scanned several products in 3D. This helped make sure every product was faithfully represented as true to form as possible.
Traditional Animation
Once the video captures and 3D animations were completed and edited, we layered in hand-drawn animations to provide more depth and character to the already vibrant piece. These helped accentuate certain movements, introduce iconography and create some fun and lively personality to round out the story we were telling.
The final result was an energetic, engaging and award-winning video that delivered on all of the client’s needs, and then some. At the end of the day, the client was thrilled — and a few AAF Judges were inspired to declare the final piece Best In Show.
